Description: This is a photograph of William Creighton Jr. (1778-1851). Creighton Jr. was born in Virginia and moved to Chillicothe, Ohio, to practice law in 1799. He was an early proponent of Ohio statehood and helped to push through the State's Constitution in 1803. He served as Ohio's first Secretary of State from 1803 to 1808, and was a member of both the Ohio and United States Houses of Representatives. View on Ohio Memory.
