: Page from the Dayton and Covington Turnpike Company account book, which covers the company's accounts from October 8, 1839, through October 29, 1840. The company was organized in 1838, and construction began on the toll road in 1839, following the route of the Stillwater Road and the earlier Native American Stillwater Trail. The Dayton and Covington Turnpike was completed in 1841, and the company dissolved in 1845. Since 1921, the road has been designated as State Route 48. View on Ohio Memory.
