Description: This printed engraving is of Robert Cumming Schenck, a brigadier general for the Union during the Civil War. Schenck sustained injuries in the Second Battle of Bull Run that ended his military career. In addition to working as a lawyer, he later served in the House of Representatives, and as the United States' ambassador to the United Kingdom and Brazil. The illustration originally appeared in Henry Howe's "Historical Collections of Ohio," published in 1907. View on Ohio Memory.
