Sherman Family Photographs
Description: This carte de visite photograph of Lieutenant General P.G.T. Beauregard, a prominent general who fought on the side of the Confederacy in the US Civil War. Beauregard is shown from the shoulders up, wearing a dress jacket or overcoat with three rows of two buttons visible. The shoulder boards on the jacket indicate that this was taken while Beauregard was still wearing his federal army uniform, as many Confederate uniforms did not include shoulder boards. The photograph is from the William T. Sherman album, which contains photographs of a large number of Civil War officers that possibly served with General Sherman or were known by him. View on Ohio Memory.
