Description: Photograph of General Robert E. Lee, his son Major General George Washington Lee (right) and Colonel Walter Taylor (left), taken in August of 1862. General Lee was the leader of the armed forces of the Confederate States of America who surrendered to General Ulysses S. Grant at Appomattox, Virginia in April of 1865. Colonel Taylor was appointed a Staff Officer under General Lee during the Civil War and named one of his sons after him. View on Ohio Memory.
