Description: Dated 1924, this is a portrait of Eva Cynthia Darrall taken to commemorate her graduation from college. Born December 3, 1902 in Cleveland, Ohio, Eva Cynthia Darrall was the only child of Frederick Clinton Darrall (1865-1935) and Ida Hamilton Darrall (1864-1960). After graduating from Brooklyn Village Public School/High School Department in 1886, Frederick Darrall took one year of college-level courses at Oberlin College. The Darralls were married in the Park Congregational Church in East Cleveland, Ohio on December 22, 1891. At the time of Eva’s birth, her father was working as an accountant, and the family was residing at 64 Parkwood Avenue in Cleveland. Eva was baptized in June 1903 at the Park Congregational Church, which was built largely with funds provided by her grandfather, Thomas Hamilton. Eva was the granddaughter of Luke Darrall (1825-1892) and Cynthia Saxton Darrall (1827- 1909) of North Royalton, Ohio and Thomas Hamilton (ca. 1835-1916) and Mary Whiggam (ca. 1833-1917) of Cleveland, Ohio. Both of her maternal grandparents were born in Northern Ireland and came to the United States prior to 1853, when they were married in Cleveland. View on Ohio Memory.
