Ladies on stepping stones   Save
Harry Kinley Collection
Description: The photograph shows five women and two children standing on stones in a river. The stones create a path extending across the river. The women and children all stand to the right side. Two women hold the children, a boy and a girl, on the stones with them. The women wear long skirts and long sleeved shirts with the sleeves pushed up to the elbow. Their reflections show in the water in front of them. The stones, placed in the river by early settlers, are now a part of the Stepping Stones Park in Upper Sandusky, Ohio. Photograph by Harry Evan Kinley (1882-1969), a native of Upper Sandusky. Kinley was active in local events and organizations, and spent his professional career as a clerk at his father's department store, and later as a travelling salesman for the Marion Paper & Supply Company (1934-1962). He was also an avid lifelong photographer, and the bulk of the Harry Kinley Collection is comprised of glass plate negatives documenting the Kinley family, the city of Upper Sandusky and Wyandot County and surrounding areas.
