Ohio Capitol building in Zanesville drawing   Save
Ohio Statehouse Collection
Description: This is a drawing of the Ohio Capitol building in Zanesville, Ohio. The building was constructed 1809-1810, and in 1810, Zanesville replaced Chillicothe as Ohio's capital until 1812, after which the capital returned to Chillicothe. Later that year, Columbus became Ohio's capital. The building in Zanesville closely resembled the statehouse in Chillicothe, but was built in the Federal Style, which incorporates more refined architectural staples, rather than the Colonial Style, which is characterized by plainer architectural design.
