Ohio History Connection
Description: These items were given to John Glenn after his Friendship 7 flight in 1962, where he became the first American to orbit the earth. One item is a sand dollar encased on an orange background; a piece of fabric is glued to the reverse with the name and address of the sender. The other item is a figurine in the shape of a person wearing a brown and white circular hat and green shoes. The figurine holds a brown and white rectangular object in its hands and has a red object on its back, resembling a space suit. Lyn and David Glenn, children of John and Annie Glenn, donated several items belonging to their parents in 2018. Many of the objects are from their household or are related to John Glenn's career as an astronaut and U.S. Senator. View on Ohio Memory.
