Description: The maker of this quilt is unknown but it belonged to the family of Edward W. Marshall, a coverlet weaver, who settled in Greer, Ohio. The quilt is constructed of log cabin blocks in the asymmetrical barn-raising pattern. The blocks, mostly of lightweight wools with some cottons and silks, have calico fabric foundations. Some of the center pieces in the blocks are fussy-cut (fabric motif centered and cut). The applied binding is red wool. The back is a brown calico print. It is 178cm x 188cm (70 x 74 inches).
