Description: The maker of this quilt is unknown. Documentation comes from an old accession card: "American, Ohio, Coshocton County, a farm near Roscoe, from estate of Clarinda Burt Johnson, b. 1802." The quilt is constructed of square-in-a-square pineapple blocks in the center, square-in-a-square diamonds in the border, and single pineapple blocks in the border corners. The center has rows of blocks 7 x 8. All the blocks use the same light pale green fabric and pale plaid fabric alternating in the rows for the light portion, but 32 pineapple blocks use solid black and 24 pineapple blocks use olive green for the dark portions. The blocks' centers are red with the diamonds having a row of black fabric around the red center. Each strip is laid over a roll of cotton wadding and sewn to the wrong side of a brown calico or muslin square. The applied binding is light green wool. It is 188cm x 289cm (74 x 82 inches).
