Description: A black and white postcard of the original staircase at Abraham Lincoln’s home in Springfield, Illinois. The dark walnut stair way curves at the top of the stairs to the second floor. The hallway next to stairs has bare hardwood floors leads to the dinning room, while the stairs are carpeted. The walls are wallpapered. The door to the right leads to the front parlor. The only source of light is a hanging lamp. Abraham Lincoln and his family lived in this house from 1844 to 1861 before Lincoln was elected President. The house is located at the corner of Eighth and Jackson Streets in Springfield, a part of the Lincoln Home National Historic Site. View on Ohio Memory.
