Description: A black and white postcard of the first burial tomb of Abraham Lincoln located at the National Lincoln Monument and Tomb site at the Oak Ridge Cemetery in Springfield, Illinois. Abraham Lincoln’s body along with his son, William, was placed here while the monument and tomb was being built. The remains were later moved to the tomb chamber under the obelisk monument, up the hill. This tomb holds the remains of President Lincoln and his wife, Mary Todd Lincoln, and their sons, Edward, William “Willie” and Thomas “Tad.” Their oldest son, Robert, is the only son not buried in the tomb.
