Description: Carte de visite of General James Birdseye McPherson, who served with the Union Army during the Civil War. He fought at Fort Henry, Fort Donelson, Shiloh, Vicksburg, and Atlanta. During the Battle of Atlanta, he was killed while trying to escape skirmishers attempting to capture him. He was the highest-ranked Union officer killed during the war. View on Ohio Memory.
