Description: Carte de visite of General Robert Anderson, who served in the Union Army during the Civil War. Anderson, originally from Louisville, Kentucky, was a pro-slavery, former slave owner, but remained loyal to the Union. He is primarily known as being the commander of Fort Sumter, the fortress bombarded by the Confederacy to begin the war. After Fort Sumter, he primarily worked to recruit soldiers to the Union cause.
