Description: Carte de visite of General Gordon Granger, who served in the Union Army during the Civil War. Granger, a native of Joy, New York, fought in a large number of battles, but is most commonly remembered for his actions at Chickamauga, where without orders he reinforced Thomas' position, earning Thomas the nickname "The Rock of Chickamauga". Granger also fought with distinction at Wilson's Creek, New Madrid, Corinth, and Missionary Ridge. View on Ohio Memory.
