Description: This mine roof drilling machine was made by the Jeffrey Manufacturing Company of Columbus, Ohio. In an effort to prevent mine ceilings from collapsing, holes were drilled into the roof and bolts were inserted to reinforce the roof. This photograph was taken at the Lorado Coal Mining Company, Lorado, West Virginia, 1961. View on Ohio Memory.
