Jeffrey Manufacturing Company Collection
Description: Reproduction of a photograph depicting an interior view of the Jeffrey Manufacturing Company's machine shop in Columbus, Ohio. The original photograph was taken in 1895. With an absence of electrical lighting, the shop relied on natural light that flowed in from its many windows. Power for the machinery came from one central source that drove overhead pulley shafts which delivered power to the machines below by way of drive belts. Electric coal cutting machines are being assembled in the foreground. View on Ohio Memory.
