Description: The round object on the right is an Aerodyne mine ventilation fan made by the Jeffrey Manufacturing Company of Columbus, Ohio. It was used at the Island Creek Coal Company, Holden, West Virginia, 1936. Ventilation fans forced fresh air into underground mines for miners to breathe and to dissipate poisonous gasses.
