Description: William Howard Doane's home is a red painted brick mansion on the corner of Auburn Ave and Glencoe Place in Cincinnati, Ohio. The entry is between two posts on which one is carved Sunny Side and the other is WHD. Mr Doane was president of J A Fay & Co, a woodworking machinery company. He was also the author of several inspirational Christian hymns and was the conductor of the Norwich Harmonic Society. In his study was a collection of rare instruments and inscribed over the transom of the music room are musical notes of the first few measures of "Home Sweet Home". Frescoed over his pipe organ are the first four measures of the Hallelujah Chorus. W. Howard Doane was born in Connecticut in 1832 and married Frances (Fanny)Mary Treat on Nob 2, 1957.
