Description: Caption reads "Marker erected by the Cincinnati Chamber of Commerce on the site of the Yeatman's Tavern, Cincinnati, Ohio, now occupied by the Cincinnati Union Bethel Building, 308 East Front Street, 60 feet East of Sycamore Street. The ground floor is occupied by 'The Church of God', a religious organization." Sign reads "Site of Yeatman's Tavern. Cincinnati's first hotel. Built 1793. Site of Yeatman's Cove. Foot of this hill. First settler's landing place 1788. Marker erected by Cincinnati Chamber of Commerce Historic Sites Committee" Yeatman's Tavern, the Square and Compass, was a large two and a half story frame building facing Front Street. It over looked one of the earliest landing places in a town known as Losantiville in 1793. It was the center of the social and civic life in the community, which later became Cincinnati.
