Miami River channel in downtown Dayton   Save
Ohio Guide Photographs
Description: Reverse reads: "Improved channel of Miami River at Dayton, carrying flood waters safely through the city. The channel was enlarged and deepened and levees and retaining walls were built, so that the channel can now carry any waters released by the flood control dams above the city. Poor print but would make good contrast with flood conditions before control measure were initiated." Dayton was devastated by a flood in 1913. This photo demonstrates changes made to the channel to accommodate flood waters. View on Ohio Memory.
