Description: Original description reads: "Montgomery County. 'Dr. Rose' Story. June 30, 1938. Dr. J.S. Rose, eccentric herb doctor of Dayton, who vaunted his cure-alls, lambasted the medical profession, and flung out the sign, 'Not My Patient' when funerals were driving past his house, 215 S. Jefferson St. He came to Dayton in 1857 and died in his 86th year, May 26, 1894. Photo copied by Federal Writer's Project, Dayton, Ohio." This photograph shows Dr. Rose standing in front of the open doorway of his house, wearing a tophat with his long white beard. Several signs hang to the left of the door, which read: "Not My Patient.
