Ohio Guide Photographs
Description: Caption on reverse reads: "First Trailmobile." This photograph is in a folder titled "National Guide Book" A "trailmobile" was designed to "trail" an automobile. Daniel M. Sechler began the Sechler Company in 1839, making horse drawn carriages. John C. Endebrock, who worked for the company, designed a truck trailer, which was eventually release in 1915. The original trailmobile had an angle iron chassis frame with cross-members, horn-type front spring hangers, a knuckle-type front axle, automobile springs, artillery wheels, roller bearings, and a draw bar with housed spring sections. It is unclear as to whether this photograph shows a true authentic "Trailmobile", or just a similar type of trailer. View on Ohio Memory.
