The triangle bounded roughly by Baltic, Sugar Creek and Stone Creek, along US 21, is centered the Swiss cheese industry of Tuscarawas County. the old-fashioned method of cheese culture extending over seven months of the year has been supplanted by a new process embracing the entire year; as a result, cheese production in the area dramatically increased. Swiss cheese has been made in Sugarcreek since the early 1800's, with the first Swiss Cheese festival held in 1953. View on Ohio Memory.
