Description: This photograph shows a young man using a bench lathe at a N. Y. A. workshop in Uhrichsville, Ohio. The National Youth Administration (NYA) was a part of the Works Process Administration as a New Deal organization. It was established on June 26, 1935 and was funded by the Emergency Relief Appropration Act of 1935. NYA provided training for youth between sixteen and twenty five . The two programs of the NYA were for training unemployed, out- of -work youth and high school, college and graduate students. The earnings ranged from ten to twenty-five dollars per month.
