Wheat cutting in Warren County   Save
Ohio Guide Photgraphs
Description: This photograph shows a farmer and his helper cutting wheat in Warren County, Ohio, near Lebanon, June 22, 1938. They are using a tractor with a reaping attachment to cut the wheat. Machines such as the tractor were part of an overall mechanization of agriculture that began in the 19th century and continued to increase throughout the 20th century. Using these methods, the farmer and one additional young man could harvest an entire wheat crop, eliminating the need for large groups of farm laborers at harvest time. View on Ohio Memory.
