Description: This projectile point has a straight base and is of the Lamoka type. It has a triangular blade that tapers to a long, rectangular stem, the edges of which are ground smooth. This piece is made of dark gray and gray mottled Upper Mercer flint and comes from the Late Archaic Period. People of the Late Archaic were hunter-gatherers, and were among the first in the region to make metal artifacts from copper found near Lake Superior. Lamoka points are found throughout Ohio, Pennsylvania, and portions of Indiana, Michigan, West Virginia, and the eastern states. View on Ohio Memory.
