Description: The postcard features a picture of a garden labeled "HARTMAN'S HISTORIC GARDEN / SPRINGFIELD, OHIO". The garden features many small buildings of a variety of styles, like a small church, a castle, and a classical temple. The garden was created by H.G. Hartman in 1932 when he became unemployed and had extra time on his hands. He started by building a fish pond and eventually added famous landmarks in miniature religious scenes and pop culture figures. All of the figures were made from cement and decorated with small stones.After Hartman's death in 1944, H.G.'s youngest son, Ben Hartman, took over the maintenance of the garden. However Ben passed away in 2007, and the property was put up for sale in 2008. The Kohler Foundation began restoring the site in 2009. View on Ohio Memory.

Description: A woman in pigtails and sunglasses is photographed near a garden fountain along North High Street in the University District of Columbus, Ohio. The University District includes the small neighborhoods to the east and south of The Ohio State University campus on either side of the High Street corridor. The High Street Photograph Collection is comprised of over 400 photographs of High Street in Columbus, Ohio, taken in the early 1970s. These photographs were taken primarily at street level and document people and the built environment from the Pontifical College Josephinum on North High Street in Worthington through Clintonville, the University District and Short North, Downtown and South Columbus. The photographs were used in a television photo documentary that aired on WOSU called "High Street."
