Jones hall is a three story limestone structure build in the Tudor architectural style, with oriel windows and a four-centered (Tudor) arch entrance way flanked by octahedral crossing towers. The towers each feature an octahedral spire with a cross-shaped finial at the top. The picture appears to be taken from the edge of the road so a cement sidewalk separates the building from the foreground. Several large trees grow in the lawn outside of the building. Formerly known as simply the "main building," Jones Hall was renamed in 1967 in honor of Howard W. Jones, former president of Youngstown College. View on Ohio Memory.

This picture shows what appears to be an apartment building, a duplex, two houses and two sheds that are across the street from a large mill. The sheds are made from patching together various scraps of wood, and the beams are visible in some areas. The mill is long and rectangular a features ongoing rows of square-paneled, metal windows along the top and the middle of the building. The ground floor features an ongoing row of double-hung, divided windows. On top of the mill are seven cylindrical smoke stacks. Rogers drafted and worked to pass the Township Parks Improvement Act of 1891 and led the campaign to establish the Youngstown Township Park District. He is particularly recognized for his personal effort to preserve Mill Creek Park. The sculpture of Rogers was created by Frederick Hibbard, a sculptor from Cleveland, Ohio, and installed in 1920. Description: This is a photograph of the North Bridge employee entrance at Youngstown Sheet and Tube's Campbell Works, East Youngstown (Campbell), Ohio, ca. 1910-1919. Shown is the gatehouse, gatekeeper, and the bridge that led into the plant. The sign posted above the bridge is written in two different Slavic languages, depicting the immigrant influence at Youngstown Sheet and Tube at this time. During James A. Campbell's tenure as president of the company, thousands of immigrants were employed by Youngstown Sheet and Tube. The company tried to ease the immigrants' assimilation into their new homeland by providing signs and manuals in their native languages as well as offering classes in English. View on Ohio Memory.

Description: This photograph taken from across the Mahoning River captures the skyline of the Campbell Works, East Youngstown (Campbell), Ohio, ca. 1920. The plant included four blast furnaces, seen here with single waste heat stacks from left to right. According to Chester Kaschak, an employee of Sheet and Tube from 1967 to 1978, the furnaces were not given proper names, but simply called One, Two, Three and Four. At the extreme left of the frame is the open hearth furnace. In the center is the car dumper. This machine lifted railroad cars of iron ore and other raw materials and dumped or "baled" it into piles in the stockyard. View on Ohio Memory.

A large crane recovered ore from the piles in the stockyard and moved it to bins. From there it would go to the skip hoist and into the blast furnace. 2. Read and Agree

Ohio History Connection Use Agreement and Conditions of Reproduction

  1. One-Time Use. The right to reproduce materials held in the collections of the Ohio History Connection is granted on a one-time basis only, and only for private study, scholarship or research. Any further reproduction of this material is prohibited without the express written permission of the Ohio History Connection.
  2. Use Agreement. Materials are reproduced for research use only and may not be used for publication, exhibition, or any other public purpose without the express written permission of the Ohio History Connection.
  3. Credit. Any publication, exhibition, or other public use of material owned by the Ohio History Connection must credit the Ohio History Connection. The credit line should read “Courtesy of the Ohio History Connection” and should include the image or call number. The Ohio History Connection appreciates receiving a copy or tearsheet of any publication/presentation containing material from the organization’s collections.
  4. Indemnification. In requesting permission to reproduce materials from the collections of the Ohio History Connection as described, the requestor agrees to hold harmless the OHC and its Trustees, Officers, employees and agents either jointly or severally from any action involving infringement of the rights of any person or their heirs and descendants in common law or under statutory copyright.
  5. Reproduction of Copyrighted Material. Permission to reproduce materials in which reproduction rights are reserved must be granted by signed written permission of the persons holding those rights.
  6. Copyright. The Ohio History Connection provides permission to use materials based on the organization’s ownership of the collection. Applicants assume all responsibility for questions of copyright and invasion of privacy that may arise in copying and using the materials available through Ohio Memory.
    Warning concerning copyright restriction: The copyright law of the U. S. (Title 17, United States Code) governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted material. Under certain conditions specified in the law, libraries and archives are authorized to a photocopy or reproduction. One of the specified conditions is that the photocopy or reproduction is not to be “used for any purpose other than private study, scholarship or research.” If a user make a request for, or later uses, a photocopy or reproduction for purposes in excess of “fair use,” that user may be liable for copyright infringement.
