Description: Taken weeks before resigning as head basketball coach of Ohio State University, this photograph shows Fred Taylor sitting in his office at the St. John Arena in Columbus, Ohio. He leans back in his office chair with his head in his hand. The image was submitted by photographer Jeffrey A. Rycus of Columbus, Ohio, in the Professional category of the Spirit of Ohio Bicentennial Photo Contest. In August 1976, the Ohio American Revolution Bicentennial Advisory Committee (OARBAC) began the Spirit of Ohio Bicentennial Photo Contest as part of a larger effort in Ohio to celebrate the 1976 American Bicentennial. The contest was meant to document "the spirit and character of the people and places which represent Ohio during [the] bicentennial year," and to create a permanent photographic archive of the year's festivity for use by future researchers. Description: Photograph of Beryl Drummond at Great Lakes Training Station Boot Camp, 1941. Born June 16, 1918, Beryl Esco Drummond was a member of the "Waterloo Wonders" high school basketball team, of Waterloo, Ohio. They were the second Ohio high school basketball team in Class B to win consecutive state championships, in 1934 and 1935. After high school, Drummond continued to play semi-professional basketball with teams such as the Whiskered Wizards and the Acme Aviators (sponsored by the Acme Pattern & Toll Company of Dayton, Ohio). He played his last basketball game in the winter of 1952, after a disappointing game at the Knights of Columbus gym in Columbus, Ohio. He later worked as assistant superintendent at Sleepy Hollow Golf Club in Brecksville, Ohio and at the Green Acres Country Club in Florida. He died April 26, 1982. View on Ohio Memory.

The Clinton League was a women's group founded in 1912 to promote child welfare and later general welfare in Columbus, but which was based in and primarily focused on the area of Clintonville.
