Description: The scenic Scioto River in Pike County Ohio, most likely somewhere close to Waverly, Ohio. The Scioto River is a river in central and southern Ohio more than 231 miles in length. It rises in Auglaize County in west central Ohio, flows through Columbus, where it collects its largest tributary, the Olentangy River, and meets the Ohio River at Portsmouth. Too small for modern commercial shipping, its primary economic importance is for recreation and drinking water. Pike County was organized on February 1, 1815, from portions of Scioto, Ross, and Adams Counties, and was named in honor of Zebulon Pike, the explorer and soldier who had recently been killed in the War of 1812. Mr Parker was for several years Prosecuting Atty of Pike Co, & is considered one of the best trap shooters in the State of Ohio, even handicapped as he is, loading and otherwise caring for his own guns & equipment.
